BACKGROUND

PREAMBLE

Recognizing that the realisation of the country’s development and poverty problems result mainly from lack of participation and the conviction lying in the fact that the youth are generally ignored in issues of national development .This resulting into wastage of a lot of potential human resource which could develop the country.
1.1. Vision of the organization.
Working for a world where the youth are safe and secure to participate in development policies and strategies that will lead Malawi into achieving sustainable development and creating a better world for our generation and those following.
With adherence to the conventions, policies and legislation subscribed to by the nation to the principles of human rights, gender equality and free enterprise the objectives of this organization shall be:

1.8 Promotion of youth participation in development policies and strategies

1.9 Evaluating and Monitoring development projects on how the needs of youth can best be addressed.

1.10 Mobilising the youth and providing civic education.

1.11 Designing sustainable development policies and strategies that are youth friendly democratic and transparent through sustainable participatory appraisals.

1.12 Advocating for issues that affect the youth

1.13 Training of the youth to be development facilitators and development agents of change.

1.14 Making progress towards the achievement of Millennium Development Goals and other National development plans and strategies.

1.15 Goals and Principles
The OYED in trying to improve the quality of life of the youth in the country shall strive for and observe the following.

1.16 Sustainable participatory development and the youth
Youth Rights and sustainable development HIV/AIDS and the youth.
Peer educating, career guiding and counseling.
Politics, the youth and Development youth consciousness.
National Development policies and strategies.
